Alex has been active in volunteering in Oregon Chinese Community as well as in the great Portland area for years.
Alex is one of the drummers in the 1st OCC Youth Drum team and performed in Chinese Festival in August 2021. Alex is also a passionate writer who wrote letters to Metro Commissioners for recognition of the contribution to US history by the Chinese Railroad Workers who are buried at Lone Fir Cemetery with no names marked. Alex contributed to multiple OCC winter clothing drives, Lan-Su-Yuan Chinese Culture Promotion. Alex is one of the 1st batch of students from Oregon Chinese community who cooked the food and brought to the local shelter to serve the people in need, bringing food and care to people who have no home during the holiday season.
Alex is a dedicated and passionate member of the Multnomah Youth Commission for years and is an elected Chair of Youth Against Violence (YAV). Every week Alex and YAV team actively collaborate with multiple organizations and government bodies including the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI), Portland Police Bureau, to help reduce crime all around Oregon.
Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Alexander Pi.
