Alexis is a sophomore at Lake Oswego High School. She is a co-leader of her school’s largest student club, AASU (Asian American Student Union); AASU organizes an annual Asian Cultural Festival with 1000+ attendees, providing opportunities for youth and families in Lake Oswego to learn more about diverse Asian heritages and traditions. Alexis is also co-president of Songs for Seniors club, a group of students dedicated to bringing music and happiness to seniors at assisted living homes. She’s performed at senior homes for over two years as well as other venues like Kaul Auditorium at Reed College, Lincoln Recital Hall, and the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts. In addition, she has been involved in Oregon Chinese Coalition’s Youth Lens to document real people and real stories from the Chinese community. During the summer of 2023, she conducted in-depth interviews with Keith Lee and his family and created a documentary about the Flying Tigers. Alexis is passionate about advocating for inclusivity and wants to continue sharing her love for culture and music with the people in her community.

Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Alexis Zou.
