Eli is currently a sophomore at Lakeridge High School, where he participates in the school’s newly restarted DECA club, and the SDA (Students Demand Action) club where he aims to be in a leadership position next year. He also participates in the Lakeridge Medical club and AAPI Student Union. As a member of his school’s debate team, he competes in parliamentary debate and impromptu speaking events, and has also helped with fundraising and recruiting. He also participates in his school’s sports, as a participant in swimming and tennis. He developed an interest in medicine at an early age, leading him to volunteer at OHSU, providing guide services at their campuses over the summer of his freshman year. In addition to this, he also participates in OCC events including their program at the Clark Center, a short-term residential program, which helps provide a variety of food for the shelter residents every month.
Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Eli Du.
