Arthur is a sophomore at Westview High School, he has been immersed in STEM and mental wellness-related community volunteer work and projects since he was nine years old. At Westview High School, Arthur is the president of the Westview Bridge Club, which organizes community events with Senior Living Centers. Student volunteers connect younger and older generations, enhancing seniors’ mental well-being. Arthur secured a grant from the American Contract Bridge Club to fund more activities at Laurel Parc Senior Living Center and Westview High School Bridge Club. The funding will help support professional Bridge players coming to Westview Bridge Club and senior living centers and teach the students and senior community how to play Bridge.

Arthur is also the president of Westview Cybersecurity Club, leading the club members in constructive learning of advanced knowledge such as Windows, Linux, programming, and Cisco Networking. Arthur leads and mentors the Titanturtles Cybersecurity Club outside of school, which creates advanced training materials such as virtual Linux and Windows environments, malware, and forensics challenges. Arthur is the team captain of the Titanturles Club CyberPatriot competition team. Arthurs team has won 1st place in Oregon state in high school CyberPatriot competitions and in March 2024, Arthurs CyberSecurity TitanTurtles team advanced to the National Finals. The whole team went to Washington D.C. for the final round of the competition and achieved an overall ranking of 4th place amongst 12 Open Division finalists. This is the first time in Oregons history that a cybersecurity team has reached the national finals, ranking in the top 0.1% of over 2300 Open Division teams. In addition, Arthur also is an active board member of the Westview High School Chinese Culture Club. The Club has organized multiple events to promote Chinese Culture. Arthur also participated in the Beaverton Education Foundation call night which raises money to support all 54 Beaverton schools.

Arthur teaches youth fencing at Northwest Fencing Center and is a key mentor. Many of his students have greatly improved their skills.

Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Arthur Yang.
