Ellen is currently a sophomore at Westview High School. She has been fond of music ever since she was young, starting piano at age 5. In 2020, she started playing the Chinese Zither, periodically performing as a co-founder of the Lulu Guzheng group for various cultural events around Portland. Ellen is also a performer for Beats of Bethany, a non-profit organization of young musicians that play for local senior living centers. On the other hand, Ellen is the outreach and documentation lead of FTC team 12599 Overcharged, a globally recognized robotics team. She has connected the team with dozens of professionals as well as visited schools around Oregon to spark STEM interest among students. She is also a cadet for the Washington County Sheriffs Office Search and Rescue Program and received CPR Certification through the program.

Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Ellen Wang.
