Over the last year, she volunteered for her schools Builders Club, managing concession stands and organizing gifts to show appreciation for the teachers. She was also a key player in redesigning her schools graduation ceremony video, helping to plan, film, design, and write short speeches for the final video, providing students and their families with a more personalized, memorable graduation. In addition, she has also dedicated time to coordinate Science Olympiad camps and tournaments for elementary students, helping to ensure every child had a fun and enriching experience. Finally, she has also volunteered at her local librarys summer reading program, helping to promote frequent reading to people of all ages. She hopes to continue to support her community and make a difference through volunteering.
Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Liya Zhao.
