Maya is a current sophomore at Lake Oswego High School. She is a part of many community and school organizations, including but not limited to, National Art Honor Society, HOSA, Key Club, Asian American Student Union, and is a co-founder and current secretary for Healing Hands Initiative.
Over the past couple of years, Maya has been volunteering with Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation where she leads kids through summer camp activities as a junior Camp Counselor. Through three weeks, she led children ages 5-12 through various crafts and activities. She also regularly volunteers at the Tualatin Public Library where she is a supervisor/trainer for tween (ages 8-12) volunteers. Over the past year, she also worked the Summer Reading Program registration, helped with cataloging inventory, and was also part of the display crew.
Apart from volunteering, Maya also plays cello for the conservatory orchestra at Portland Youth Philharmonic, is part of her schools golf team, and also regularly participates in art auctions to raise funds for medically challenged families. Maya enjoys painting, taking photos of her cat, and playing piano in her free time.
Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Maya Ye.
