Kyle is a senior at Lincoln High School. He is deeply involved in the Providence Health and Services community, with volunteer experience at both Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. In the past, Kyle volunteered as an assistant for the Supply Department at Providence Portland Medical Center, delivering medical equipment and supplies to units around the hospital. Currently, he supports nurses and patients in the Cardiology Unit at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Kyle enjoys not only serving communities, but also creating communities. He is a Co-President of Asian Student Union, and in this role, he strives to develop a cohesive group of Asian-identifying students at Lincoln and facilitate important discussions amongst them. He also organizes large cultural events at school, often in collaboration with other affinity groups, to immerse students and staff in various cultures. Some of these events include Lunar New Year Festival and Multicultural Night. Through his work of serving and creating communities, he hopes to make a positive impact on the world.
Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Kyle Chen.
