Fiona is currently a senior at Sunset High School, where she is a leader in her school’s Red Cross, HOSA, NHS, and Key Club. In addition to being the president of Sunset’s Red Cross Club, she is also a campaign coordinator for Red Cross’ International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Youth Action Campaign (YAC). Within IHL YAC, Fiona spreads awareness about IHL and the impact it has on people around the world through presentations, games, social media campaigns, and more. Additionally, Fiona is one of the captains of her FTC robotics team, Overcharged, where she hosts and participates in various outreaches. During these outreaches, she promotes STEM to the community around her by inviting industry professionals to teach students, hosting tours at various STEM-related companies, demonstrating her team’s robot, and more. During the summer, Fiona volunteered at the OHSU Gibbs Lab where she researched near-infrared fluorophores for enhanced fluorescent guided surgery, and she also became involved with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue program where she is currently an OSSA Type III certified cadet.

In addition to her passion for STEM, Fiona is also invested in various art forms such as dance, music, and art. As an outreach leader of the Oregon Chinese Coalition’s Jade Dance Team, Fiona promotes traditional Chinese dancing through performances and social media. Furthermore, Fiona is an executive director of the Beats of Bethany, a non-profit organization that focuses on bringing music to local senior centers. As an executive director, she helps organize and host performances throughout the year. With her passion for STEM and art, Fiona strives to continue spreading awareness and encouraging other young students to get involved.

Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Fiona Wang.
