Justin is currently a sophomore attending Catlin Gabel. He discovered his passion for teaching in middle school, when he taught classes for MiT School. Eventually, Justin and his friends started a free online academy, named Youth to Youth Club. There, Justin continued his passion by teaching free Mathcounts and Math Olympiad prep classes for elementary and middle schoolers. Additionally, Justin started teaching English to students in China through Youth to Youth Club. Furthermore, Justin loves his community and embraces his culture, which led him to volunteer for the Oregon Chinese Coalition. He emceed for OCC’s 2022 Chinese Festival, and has also participated in OCC’s winter drives and voter promotion events. In his own words, it “makes [him] feel good to help others.” In his free time, Justin likes to program, do math, solve Rubik’s cubes, and produce music.
Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Justin Xia.
